1- JOB DESCRIPTION :

A UK midwife is a registered professional providing holistic, evidence-based care, support, and advice to women and birthing people throughout pregnancy, labor, and the postnatal period. Working in hospitals, community settings, or homes, they are often the lead professional, responsible for clinical examinations, screening, delivering babies, managing risks, and supporting parenting.


2- DUTIES :

▪️ Antenatal Care: Providing full check-ups, monitoring fetal development, identifying high-risk pregnancies, and facilitating parent education.
▪️ Intrapartum Care (Labour): Supporting women during labour, monitoring progress, offering pain relief, and delivering babies.
▪️ Postnatal Care: Caring for the mother and newborn, offering feeding support (breastfeeding), and providing clinical care to ensure health after birth.
▪️ Clinical & Safety Standards: Acting as an autonomous practitioner, adhering to NHS guidelines, maintaining accurate records, and implementing new safety equipment.
▪️ Communication: Providing emotional support to families and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team (doctors, nurses, social services).


3- REQUIREMENTS :

▪️ Qualification: Must be a registered midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or will go through the registration process.
▪️ Skills: Excellent communication, empathy, ability to work under pressure, and strong decision-making skills.
▪️ Flexibility: Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
▪️ Other: A driving license may be required for community roles.
